I have a 10 Gallon low tech planted tank with Java Fern, Java Moss & Cabomba plants. My plants stocks 4 male guppies and 2 corys and all are happyily living together.

My tank have an overhead filtration system. A pump, pumps water using a flexible pipe to the top of the tank, and goes into the filtration system.

Currently, the pump is situated in the very bottom of the tank and due that my tank is vertical, when the aquarium gets heavily crowded with plants, it is going to be diffult to detatch the pump from the pipe and pull the pump upwards using my hand without damaging the plants.

My question is, is it OK to have the pump stuck to the upper part of the tank?
